I’ve never owned a craft lamp before.

I’ve walked by them a thousand times in the craft stores. I’ve wondered, I’ve debated, I’ve never bought.

I’ve been missing out!

Ottlite-wantoneI have to say, I think it was fate that this lamp was delivered to my doorstep this week. I’ve had pinkeye for 5 days now (thanks, little monkeys), and as an exclusive contacts wearer, I’ve been confined to a week of pure misery in the confines of my “backup glasses.” They’re about a decade old and at least a prescription behind, and I feel like I’m constantly looking through a telescope that’s juuuuuust under-focused.

So when I sat down with the new 13w Craft Space Organizer to give it a test run, I have to say I hadn’t really been in the mood to crochet all week. But I settled on my couch, grabbed my skein and hook, flipped on the switch, and violà! Bright, crisp light that almost made me forget about my glasses!

Here’s What I Love

The light is bright, but directed.
The bendable neck and the curved panel covering the bulb directs the light in such a way that it will light up your workspace without annoying the husband sitting next to you on the couch. And, he’ll be pretty pumped that he doesn’t have to watch TV at night with all the bright living room lights on just so you can crochet.

It comes with lots of storage sections.

12, to be exact. So you can grab everything you need for your crochet session — yarn, hooks, needles, stitch markers, WIP Hook Markers, scissors, etc — and toss it all in the caddy, and it’ll only be an arm’s reach away.

OttLite 13w Craft Space Organizer Lamp Giveaway | Little Monkeys Crochet (www.littlemonkeyscrochet.com)It shows colors crisply and accurately.
I took these two photos a few seconds apart, in my living room in the middle of the day. The left side is in normal lighting, and the right side is with the lamp turned on. It’s quite a difference!

It reduces eyestrain.
This is a big one. We crocheters, well — we love to crochet. Anywhere and everywhere, and any time of day. So often we find ourselves with a hook and skein long after the sun has gone down, trying to create works of art by the light of a dim lamp, resulting in eyestrain – which turns into full body tension. Crochet is supposed to be relaxing, and working under the right lighting makes all the difference.

A great way to keep those markers, stitch counters, yarn needles etc in one spot ready to use. Mine keep disappearing to No man’s land.
A nice bonus with the benefits of the Ott lights natural light.

  • Alicia Milton October 27, 2015, 11:34 am

  • Deloris October 27, 2015, 3:44 pm

An Ottlite, a floor lamp style, gave me more opportunity to continue my favorite pastime completely working on my favorite needlework projects. An Ottlite and organizer which sits on a table top next to my favorite chair would provide more leisure hours stitching. It would eliminate my searching for lost thimbles, scissors and thread lost in the dark holes of my chair. Love it!

  • Kathleen Gardiner October 27, 2015, 4:55 pm

Wow! Could I use this? Yes…I have eye strain to the max, as well as dry eye.
I could use this crocheting, reading, or doing my jigsaw puzzles. Thanks for the opportunity to win an Ottlite!

  • CAROL SKUKAN October 27, 2015, 6:45 pm

Didn’t get credit for Facebook and Tweet messages—–?

  • Tara Freeman October 27, 2015, 7:11 pm

I SO need one of these!! My house is over 120 years old and the lighting is lacking, to say the least.

  • Claudia Messier October 27, 2015, 7:33 pm

All the crafters I know just rave about this light. I have got to get one!

  • Molly McMurray October 27, 2015, 10:55 pm

I really, really need this divine lamp! Not only do I need this type of light for doing my crochet projects at my couch, but I can place my hook(s), needles, measuring tape & yarn in the organizer so they don’t keep falling off my lap. It’s amazing how such a little thing as a crochet hook will scare grown dogs when they clatter on the bare floor! But I hate making my old cat get off my lap or legs to get up from the couch to retrieve things that have fallen, too.

I haven’t used a craft light, but have been thinking about getting one often. My lighting in my house isn’t the best, and what I prefer is a light that makes you feel like your are outside. So, I would love to win this!!
